The suspension of Marlene Malahoo-Forte from the Senate by AJ Nicholson provoked wide responses from Jamaicans on social media. Nicholson says Malahoo-Forte did not produce a letter on the CCJ debate and found her response to a request from Senate President Floyd Morris contemptuous. But the JLP claims Malahoo-Forte was summoned from the restroom, prevented from retrieving feminine products from her bag, and suspended without the opportunity to defend herself.

The issue sparked wide response online, both as comments under news articles and as Tweets, with many people questioning the validity of each argument, and Audley Shaw tweeted his support of Malahoo-Forte:

She says she would not hire someone named "Watermelondrea," making light of very real discrimination that exists in the USA:

David Cameron heralded his visit to Jamaica last week with plans to build a prison. But the natives were restless, and wanted reparations for slavery instead. The British Prime Minister adroitly sidestepped the issue with his stiff upper lip, offending many Jamaicans. That we got one and no promise of the other was not lost on social media users:

Last week the PNP and JLP took their party politics online. PNP’s Dayton Campbell claims that the slogan used by the JLP, “Poverty To Prosperity” was originally his, while the JLP claims it was actually used by former Prime Minister, Bruce Golding in 2011.
