Increased use of the mobile phone in our lives is making it more attractive to marketers and digital companies such as Google. The search engine giant now displays optimized search results on feature phones, which are mobiles that are not smart or PDA phones. Google optimized search results for iPhones six months ago.
The new format is configured for different types of handsets, in more than 30 languages and 60 countries, according to Google’s Mobile Blog.
Results will combine news, images, blog and products into the results page. Google is also detailing many results, e.g. showing telephone numbers for searches on restaurants.
“One of our top goals on the mobile search team is to bring you the comprehensiveness of Google's web search while optimizing the search experience for your mobile device and in your language,” reads a post on Mobile Blog by three Google engineers.
The best way to test whether you get a better experience, of course, is to visit Google.com using your mobile and do a search. They are betting they will get a thumbs up!
