Cricket has officially taken over the Caribbean and the world. For the next six weeks, the world’s eyes will be fixed on Jamaica and its sister islands for the Cricket World Cup. Sixteen nations take part in this cricket extravaganza, but every local man, woman and child are praying the Windies team can shake off its demons and finish as king of the mound, something that now seems more likely after their trashing of Pakistan.
Needless to say, Jamaica’s business world is not unaffected by all the cricket hoopla. When there’s a Windies match, everyone in an office, from management to junior staff, will be tuned in from 9 to 5.
Here at Panmedia we’re expecting our clients to be a halfstep off the next few weeks. And that’s okay, because we plan on catching some of that cricket fever down at Sabina Park for the Windies - Zimbabwe match. As Rupee sings, it’s a beautiful game of love and unity!
