When Restaurant Week comes around the first thing I look for is the dessert option in the menus. For this list I’ve looked through all, from Epicurean to Tasty. Desserts that are a little too regular and blah are not included; not that vanilla ice cream isn’t magically delicious. But it’s not exactly what I’m looking for in a restaurant treat. So here are my top four:

  1. Rojo Restaurant at Spanish Court Hotel’s White Chocolate Mousse Cake served with berries

    White Chocolate Mousse Cake
Mousse is a favourite of mine, it's light, soft and almost melts in the mouth. I usually have chocolate mousse, so the while chocolate version sounds intriguing.

  2. Caffe Da Vinci’s Millefoglie - Puff pastry layers in mascarpone cream

Millefoglie is the Italian version to the French’s Millefeuille (French pronunciation: [mil fœj]). Puff pastry and cream, yummie!

  3. Lillian’s Restaurant Fruit Napoleon - Layers of puff pastry with whipped cream and fresh exotic fruit, garnished with crème anglaise and blueberry sauce.

    Fruit Napoleon
This seemed like the best fruity option of all the dessert choices.

  4. Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records Deep Fried Cheesecake Sundae

    Deep Fried Cheesecake Sundae
Cheesecake spring roll deep-fried, then dusted with cinnamon and sugar. Served with vanilla ice cream and topped off with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Cheesecake and ice cream sounds like a match made in pastry heaven. The Two Flavour Cheesecake from Christopher’s at Hermosa Cove and Cheesecake with spit fire Stout Crème Anglaise from The Liguanea Club also sounds like tasty couplings.

  5. Robbie’s Kitchen at the Halfmoon Shopping Centre in Montego Bay Fried banana wontons

    Fried banana wontons
Ripe banana wrapped in wonton, deep fried, sprinkled w/cinnamon-sugar & caramel sauce. A simple but nice and tasty banana treat…whenever you see cinnamon and caramel get your plate!

Kudos to places with Jamaican popular desserts like Bread Pudding and Fruit Cake, and restaurants like 689 by Brian Lumley, The Melting Pot Restaurant & Lounge and the Mango Tree Restaurant Bar and Lounge that offer an assorted plate of dessert. Nothing gets my sweet tooth excited like a plate of sweet goodies.

I understand some restaurants aim to fill you up with the appetizer and main course so they offer something small and less fancy for dessert. That’s quite fine. But for the restaurants that didn’t even offer a dessert option, boo.

Do you agree with my choices or did a miss a few delectable desserts?
