A national poster competition Panmedia organised awarded winners this week at a luncheon. Sponsored by the Energy Efficiency Unit of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica the competition involved 50 high schools in the company’s public awareness campaign on energy conservation and efficiency.

Manager of Information and Corporate Affairs Mrs Francene Thelwell  presents first prize to Bishop Gibson High School’s Christina Naylor at the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica’s Poster Competition Award Ceremony March 13, 2006 at PCJ Auditorium in New Kingston.

The competition targeted entrants between the ages of 11 – 18 years, who were asked to visually represent energy conservation and efficiency efforts. A select panel headed by respected graphic designer Bunny Levy judged the 49 entries from students.

First place winner was Christina Naylor of Bishop Gibson High; second place went to Natalie Rowlands of Queen’s High School; and Kerecia Bell of Clarendon College won third place.

PCJ’s Group Managing Director Ruth Potopsingh, now affectionately called the Energy Woman, was guest speaker at the luncheon. Energy Director Conroy Watson, of the Ministry of Commerce Science and Technology, also spoke to the students and teachers at the awards ceremony.
