Severe Weather App Upgraded

Panmedia this week released an upgrade to Billy Craig’s Severe Weather application. The app provides BlackBerry users with up to date local weather conditions, forecasts and tropical storm/hurricane activity.

The upgrade features a revamped interface with an enhanced graphical view of local conditions and improved satellite imagery. The app is compatible with the majority of BlackBerry devices available locally. Billy Craig Insurance Brokers first released the Severe Weather app last September as a value added service to its clients.

With a high mobile penetration rate in Jamaica, many companies are now looking at apps as a value added service to clients. Current government efforts to develop a regulatory framework to support mobile commerce, interbank transactions, mobile phone payment systems and international remittances are expected to spurt growth in the mobile app market here.
