The Development Bank of Jamaica recognizes that the greening of small and medium enterprises is more than a fad. Their very survival depends on it.

As energy prices soar and business profits decline, many SMEs are closing their doors.  Enter the DBJ Green Biz Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Programme, which is intended to cap this problem.

Green Biz is encouraging SMEs to adopt comprehensive systems for energy efficiency in the same way that large enterprises do, and Panmedia has been invited to get the word out through an integrated marketing and public awareness campaign.

This is familiar territory for us. We designed and implemented a similar national public education campaign,  the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica Energy Efficiency & Conservation Campaign, a few years ago that included a successful exhibition that toured the country.

The DBJ Green Biz campaign is a robust mix of new and traditional media that will effectively get the message out to the SME owners and their staff that embracing energy saving measures is critical to businesses success, national development and a strong economy.

The six-month campaign will kick off with an official launch and culminate with the Green Biz Energy Efficiency Fair. It will be supported by online and traditional advertising, and include a website and a documentary. Panmedia will also develop the Green Biz Energy Saver App that offers business owners energy saving and usage calculators as well as conservation tips and news. The app will help SMEs curb unnecessary power usage and encourage the use of smart energy practices.

To practice what Green Biz preaches, where possible the programme will embrace a paperless approach, delivering invitations, media kits and other collaterals digitally.
