Digicel has launched a Panmedia designed online game on their Facebook page. Named Digicel’s Blackberry Bonanza, the game tests players ability to quickly place ten Blackberry phones in a holster in fifty seconds or less to qualify to move on to the next round.

“The interactivity of this game is ideal for Facebook because people online want to be engaged. BlackBerry Bonanza requires speed, good hand and eye coordination and it’s an exhilarating race against the clock”, says Panmedia’s CEO Knolly Moses.
Digicel was the first corporate company in Jamaica and the Caribbean to have attracted 100,000 fans to its Facebook page in less than 100 days, making it Jamaica’s largest online family, according to Public Relations Executive Benton McTaggart. The telecom now has nearly 178,000 fans.
”As an innovative and dynamic brand, we are always looking for new ways to delight our growing customer base and to ensure that we continue to deliver the best value, best service and best network to our two million strong family in Jamaica," says Digicel's Head of Marketing Donovan White. " Digicel BlackBerry Bonanza is therefore another way for us to continue to engage and reward our online family.”
How it all started
When Panmedia launched its first Facebook flash game "Grab the Bunny" earlier this year, it engaged Jamaica's Facebook users quickly – 16,000 people played it. The game also caught the eye of Digicel’s marketing people.
Public Relations Executive Benton McTaggert called us and asked if we had created the game ourselves. When we said yes, he said cool! Then he asked if we could do something similar for Digicel.
We called the first version of the game we designed BlackBerry Mountain. The graphics included a setting with mountains across which the newest BlackBerry models were flying. The aim is to catch ten of them in the allotted time using your mouse or track pad to drag and drop. We first designed a shopping cart to put the BlackBerries the winner caught. But Benton said Digicel wanted to replace it with the worldwide known leather holster that comes with all new BlackBerry devices. We said cool!
We had to place their logo in the game to adhere to BlackBerry branding guidelines. Then Digicel decided to change the game’s name to "Digicel BlackBerry Bonanza" and branded the logo red and white. Level 2 is a series of five random multiple-choice questions that changes each time the game is played.
Panmedia’s development team for this game included project leader Alex Morrissey, Czyzon Robinson, Donnett Smith, Paul Allen and Daemone Brown.
