After a painstakingly scrupulous tender process Panmedia was selected from eight competing agencies for the Brand Development contract for WorldSkills Jamaica.
Panmedia’s multi-disciplined approach included a robust public relations program, supported by multi-media advertising and several on-the ground tactical initiatives.
WorldSkills is an international vocational/skills standards body that promotes the trades and vocational training worldwide. The main vehicle through which WorldSkills does this is the WorldSkills International Competition, held every two years. This year it will be held in Shizuoka, Japan November 14-21 and in Calgary, Canada in 2009. Jamaica plans to send competitors to both.
"WorldSkills is a powerful means for building a global skills respect culture,” says Jack Dusseldorp, President of WorldSkills. It enables the best of the world's young skilled people to motivate and inspire successive generations to see that vocational skills can lead to secure and fulfilling lives in a fast changing competitive world."
Jamaica, through HEART, the national training agency, joined WorldSkills International in 2004 as the first English-speaking Caribbean member. As a result, HEART has established WorldSkills Jamaica.
Panmedia’s job is to do three things:
- Build awareness of WorldSkills and its international significance.
- Attract corporate sponsorship to WorldSkills events and competitors.
- Leverage the WorldSkills brand as a means of encouraging young Jamaicans to consider a vocational trade as a worthwhile career.
HEART Trust/NTA’s new Executive Director Donald Foster speaking at a recent training session said:
“ WorldSkills serves as a benchmark for our vision, helping all aspects of our training system to be better prepared to produce world class trained Jamaicans who can find their place on the world stage.”
For more than 50 years, the WorldSkills Competition (formerly known as the "Skill Olympics") has come to symbolize the pinnacle of excellence in vocational training. Panmedia is proud to be part of its brand development efforts in Jamaica.
