The Cannabis Licensing Authority has a high mandate, so disseminating information is critical to its success both in Jamaica and abroad. This week, the CLA launched its website, developed by Panmedia. The site is designed to help increase public knowledge of the new requirements for ganja cultivation and use.
The CLA wanted the website to be more than a source for ganja news. It will also act as the major communication channel between the public and the CLA. Visitors can post general queries and use the “Report a Concern” page to anonymously bring attention to suspicious or unlawful activity related to the handling of ganja.
A key requirement is that the website gives the authority transparency. Thus, there is a “Find a Licensee” page that stores basic information about individuals and organisations that have been licenced. Visitors can easily search through the listing by parish and see types of licence and expiration dates.
The website also allows easy access to CLA’s resources such as forms, laws and regulation documents, press releases and speeches on the development of the Cannabis industry in Jamaica by CLA representatives and others. Cannabis and CLA related tenders can also be found on the website, along with job vacancies that accommodate online applications.
The CLA website was built on a robust and secure content management system that makes it easy to scale sites for new functionality.
