Dr.StrawPanmedia launched three related sites this week that include[s] a blog for students in a Cornell University art history class. The students will interact with a handful of artists in Jamaica, England and the United States via blog posts on a site titled Diaspora Dialogs.

The site’s facilitator, Jamaican art historian and curator Dr. Petrine Archer-Straw, explains that Diaspora Dialogs is an attempt to initiate and maintain conversations about artistic practice among artists of the black diaspora scattered around the globe. Dr. Archer-Straw is currently a visiting lecturer at Cornell where she is teaching a course in Contemporary African Diaspora Art. The website is an extension of this course.

Only registered members of the website can participate, but all posts and comments will be publicly viewable. Other content on the site include related articles by Dr. Archer-Straw, and profiles of the participating artists.

The other two sites are Negrophilia and the art historian’s personal website www.petrinearcher.com.
