Participants in Scotia Goes Green Competition can enter three contests online on a Facebook app developed by Panmedia. Responding to Scotia’s request for a flexible, lightweight solution, we delivered an app that integrates content and functionality into the social media platform.
Partnering with creative minds from Scotiabank, our design team crafted a clean, modern look with emphasis on accessibility while keeping the Scotia Goes Green theme for the purpose specific app.
The app is part of Scotiabank’s campaign to stimulate greater awareness and involvement in an environmentally friendly Jamaica. This year’s contests piggyback off the National Solid Waste Management Authority’s (NSWMA) annual Clean Schools Competitions.
The app lets participants publish projects in three main categories: Photo Competition for prep/primary schools; Video Competition for high school/community college projects; and Eco Awards, for NGOs and established private groups.
Making use of a popular social media functionality, Panmedia integrated the Facebook ‘Like’ service to facilitate sharing projects across friends’ pages. Scotiabank will use the number of ‘Likes’ as one of their criteria for judging in the competition.
Scotiabank and NSWMA are excited about their app and agree that its place on Facebook will drive more engagement among student groups and NGOs in the Scotia Green campaign. Eight groups have submitted projects in the school competitions. Among its other initiatives, Scotia Goes Green has produced a 2011 environment calendar and conducted a beach clean up at Palisadoes. On Labour Day, May 23, Scotia Goes Green will be doing four beach clean ups around Jamaica.
