Still wondering how to use Twitter to bring value to your business? Well, Venture capitalist Fred Wilson, an investor in Twitter, says he has at least part of the answer. Wilson says it’s all in the power of what he calls passed links.

Essentially, Wilson believes twitter equals traffic, because tweets usually have links in them that are typically minimized by using sites like bit.ly and tinyurl. Since the person sending you the link is likely a trusted source – an assumption we make if  you are following them – users are more likely to click.

Many companies worldwide are seeing a growth in the source of traffic coming from social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Recent web analytics for Techcrunch, shows that 9.7% of its traffic is coming from Twitter. It’s all the proof many people need to begin tweeting.

Additionally, the links also present a source of income for Twitter! If they act on it before third party applications beat them to the blue ribbon.

In sum, one advantage of using twitter for your business is that it brings traffic to your site. Then it’s up to you to take it from there, from click to sales: or your conversion rate as we call it. See you over in tweetville.
