Cricket is hot in the Caribbean. As Ken Gordon, President of the West Indies Cricket Board and Chairman of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 said here this week: “It is something to feel good about.”
He was speaking at the Private Sector of Jamaica’s members’ luncheon, rallying corporate executives to the cause and thanking main sponsor Cable & Wireless. He also suggested we all have a role to play in making a success of what he says is the most ambitious project ever undertaken in the Caribbean.
PSOJ President Beverley Lopez agreed that there is nothing in the world like West Indies cricket. She sees great benefits for business, culture and lifestyle in the nine territories that will host the event.
We share Lopez’s generous sentiment in inviting the world to come for the cricket and stay for the party. We certainly do it better in this part of the globe.
